Lookeed Martin Cormoran MPUAV

Buscando por la red información, me he encontrado con este interesante vídeo de un UAV producido por Lookeed Martin. Dicho sistema estaba compuesto por un UAV con capacidad de ataque y reconocimiento, pudiendo ser cargado en los tubos de misiles de un submarino nuclear de misiles balístico SSBN de la UsNavy de la clase Ohio. Una carga típica podría ser de 22 MPUAVs en los tubos, también podía ser lanzado desde buques o desde tierra con una catapulta. Los UAV tenian un peso de cerca de 4 toneladas, con capacidad de carga de 1000lb de carga y sensores en dos bodegas. Su armamento podria ser bombas de 250lb y 500lb, misiles como el AGM-114 hellfire o cualquiera dentro de ese rango de peso y con capacidad de carga en sus bodegas.

Un perfil de misión podría ser el del lanzamiento en inmersión hasta 150 pies de profundidad, siendo acelerado mediante cohetes una vez rota la superficie, entrando en ignición su motor de crucero. Su vuelo podía ser pre programado o guiado mediante enlaces de radio o satélite. Ideal para operaciones encubiertas, contra insurgencia, ataques quirúrgicos o CAS debido a su recubrimiento Stealth. Una vez finalizada su misión volvería a un punto de recogida en la que mediante un paracaídas de frenado su velocidad seria lo suficientemente baja para realizar un amerizaje de emergencia. En ese momento, podría ser recogido por su submarino lanzador desde inmersión mediante un cable de remolque o por un barco de superficie.

El proyecto no paso de la fase de análisis y pruebas con maquetas. El congreso de estados unidos se decanto por un UAV mucho mas barato lanzado desde los tubos de torpedos.
